Available choices include BYD Shark 6, Ford Ranger Hybrid, GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV and JAC T9 PHEV or pre-order variants, alongside full-hybrid and 48V-assisted alternatives. GWM's smaller standard Cannon Hi4-T PHEV is a separate Coming Soon model with no announced NZ price.

Start with real weekly use
Map distance, route speed, towing, load, site time and home or depot parking. Plug-in value depends on regular charging; a 48V mild hybrid does not provide plug-in charging or sustained electric-only driving.
Do not assume capability
Electrified variants can differ from diesel counterparts in weight, payload, towing, spare-wheel or accessory compatibility. Check current New Zealand documentation for the exact vehicle.
Compare total ownership
Include purchase price, energy, servicing assumptions, incentives or taxes that actually apply, charging equipment, resale and replacement timing.
