Which is better for towing?
Suitable Ranger and D-Max grades publish 3,500kg braked towing. D-Max uses a 140kW/450Nm 3.0-litre diesel; Ranger engine outputs and 4WD systems vary. Frequent towers should compare GCM, cooling, tow-ball load, trailer electronics and remaining payload on the exact vehicles.
Which carries more after the fit-out?
D-Max publishes 925–1,310kg across cited wellside and cab-chassis grades. Ranger publishes 694–1,314kg across a much wider family. Those ranges overlap; the decisive figure is the selected configuration after tray, canopy, people, tools and tow-ball load.
Work bodies, annual kilometres and rural use
Both offer 2WD and 4WD work configurations. D-Max keeps the powertrain decision simple; Ranger adds V6 and PHEV routes. High-kilometre or rural buyers should compare the exact service schedule, dealer access, tyres, recovery and loaded fuel or energy use without inventing savings.
Price, warranty and downtime
Both recorded starting points are $54,990, but Ranger is labelled RRP and D-Max plus ORC, and the underlying configurations can differ. Ford records 5 years/150,000km; Isuzu's standard and temporary eligible-vehicle offer must be separated. Put service, fit-out, finance and replacement transport in writing.
