The current NZ full-electric shortlist
The Riddara RD6 and Toyota Hilux BEV are the two full-electric utes supported by current official New Zealand product pages. The LDV eT60 remains useful comparison context, but current LDV range navigation no longer presents it as a normal new-order model. We therefore label it limited/run-out rather than available now.
- ✓Riddara RD6: 360km WLTP, 1,030kg payload and 3,000kg braked towing
- ✓Toyota Hilux BEV: 245–315km NEDC, 715–855kg payload and 2,000kg braked towing
- ✓LDV eT60: 330km WLTP and 1,000kg braked towing; verify remaining stock and plated payload
Build a loaded duty-cycle model
Published range standards differ: Riddara and LDV publish WLTP figures, while Toyota currently publishes NEDC figures. Do not compare those numbers as though they came from the same test. Model the longest regular loaded route, site access, towing, speed, terrain, weather and charging buffer.
Design charging around operations
Home, depot and public charging have different costs and reliability. Include electrical work, vehicle dwell time and what happens when the schedule changes. The Riddara's 6kW V2L can be material for some mobile trades; a cabin outlet is not the same thing.
Why some overseas EV utes are absent
An overseas announcement is not proof of New Zealand availability. MG has signalled an electric U9 for New Zealand, but a local price and full specification are not yet published on its current model pages. Isuzu D-Max EV and KGM Musso EV are not included as buyable choices until supported by current official New Zealand listings. For a broader electrified shortlist now, compare plug-in hybrid utes separately.
