What is shared—and what is not

The new Navara uses the same underlying architecture and 2.4-litre twin/bi-turbo diesel outputs as Triton: 150kW and 470Nm. That shared base does not establish identical suspension calibration, body range, grade equipment, tyres, warranty, service plan or dealer experience.

Suspension and 4WD proposition

Nissan promotes Premcar-tuned suspension across the range, optional at extra cost on SL, plus Easy 4WD on SL/ST and Super 4WD on ST-X/PRO-4X. Mitsubishi lists Super Select II by grade. Confirm the exact modes, tune, wheel/tyre package and payload before deciding.

Payload, towing and body choice

Both publish up to 3,500kg braked towing. Triton states up to 1,000kg payload and offers cab-chassis/wellside choices; Navara publishes one tonne on SL automatic 4x4 and is double cab. A tray or service body can make this a Triton-only comparison before trim is considered.

Price, warranty and dealer proposition

Obtain current NZ quotes for genuinely equivalent grades. Separate accessories and temporary offers, then compare warranty conditions, scheduled services, workshop distance, parts availability and downtime support. Nissan's extra warranty years are service activated rather than automatic.
