Which is better for towing and carried tools?
Shark 6 Performance and suitable Hilux diesel or 48V grades publish 3,500kg braked towing. Shark Premium is 2,500kg and Hilux BEV 2,000kg. A canopy, crew, tools and tow-ball load can consume payload quickly, so use the exact completed vehicle.
PHEV, 48V hybrid and BEV explained
Shark 6 plugs in and can continue on petrol. Hilux 48V assists a diesel but is not externally charged. Hilux BEV has no combustion engine. Their published NEDC ranges describe different systems and should not be presented as equivalent savings promises.
Best fit by work pattern
Shark 6 makes a strong case for urban and site travel returning to reliable charging, especially where V2L replaces a small generator. Hilux makes the clearer case for custom trays, rural body choice and buyers who want either conventional diesel or a defined depot-based BEV route.
Compare purchase and ownership on one basis
Shark pricing is MSRP plus ORC; Hilux uses TDP. Add the body, canopy, tow equipment, home or depot charging, servicing, finance or lease and current delivery. Do not infer future resale or fuel savings without a transparent scenario.
