Payload and body limitations
D-Max publishes 925–1,310kg across grades and offers multiple cabs and cab-chassis options. Shark 6 is a double-cab wellside and its exact NZ payload needs confirmation before adding crew, canopy, racks, tools or tow-ball load.
Towing frequency changes the answer
Shark 6 Performance and suitable D-Max grades publish 3,500kg braked towing; Shark Premium is 2,500kg. Frequent long-distance towing strengthens the case for detailed energy, cooling, GCM and remaining-payload checks rather than a brochure maximum.
Urban service routes versus high kilometres
A Shark returning to dependable home or depot charging can cover more work electrically. A D-Max avoids charging dependency and may be easier to schedule on long rural routes. Price the actual route; do not infer fuel savings from powertrain labels.
V2L, warranty and service access
Shark 6 can export power for compatible tools. Compare socket/output needs, battery warranty, authorised servicing and downtime with D-Max dealer access and the exact commercial warranty terms.
